NOV 15 Ruby. Light scented nose, some iodine, cassis and leather. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, leaner, fresh, some red berries and cassis. With no experience of this vintage, I hope it’s a faulty bottle, but it’s not corked. Meagre. 86

2003 Château Haut-Batailley

MAR 13 Ruby. Scented, intense licorice, cassis, figs and cinnamon. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, evolved fruit, long and slightly lean and somewhat drying finish. Drink soon for me. 88

JUL 17 Ruby, garnet rim. Tobacco, red berries, some leather, almost spicy, minerals, touch of cedar nose, mint. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, red fruits, cassis, touch of figs and leather, some cedar, leaner finish but long. 91

NOV 12 In the neck fill. Ruby with brick rim. Figs, tobacco and some leather and a touch of minerals. Not very intense. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, elegant if lean body, starting to dry and on the edge. Drink it if you have it. 84
