Mouton d’Armailhac
OCT 06 Wow, this old wine lay dusty
and unnoticed in a bin in a Copenhagen wine shop. Fill was mid shoulder, I
asked the shop keeper what he wanted for it, I gave 350,- Danish Kroner. Cork
fell to pieces while opening. First dusty and seemingly tired and maybe even
dead. Dried fruits and raisins after about fifteen minutes, bit dusty all the
way. Almost thin acidity, some sweet and sour cherries, some figs, earthy, some
leather and tobacco. Clearly past its best but I’m having an 80 years old wine
in the glass and it’s not dead. Money well spent. 88
