Minerals, bright nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, detailed, refined, perfect harmony and balance, incredibly elegant, black fruits, liquorice, layered, minerals, stunning. This has everything you want and together with Petrus, wine of the vintage. This being the more subtle of the two, highly seductive. 99-100

APR 23 Ruby. Blackberries, liquorice, fruit driven, nuanced, layered nose, bright and nuanced, scented, very pure fruit. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, blackberries, detailed, fruit driven, layered, juicy, superb texture, so refined, incredible tannins, such finesse. Long finish, absolutely stunning. One of the stars of the vintage for sure. 98-100

NOV 16 Ruby with garnet rim. Floral, red berries, some spices, plums, figs, chocolate nose, surprisingly mature for the age. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, red berries, some spices, plums, figs, seems mature again but long and persistent. 94

 

1994 Le Pin
NOV 09 Deep ruby, very thin garnet rim. Very intense and complex, truffles, mushrooms, forest floor, paprika, leather, minerals, hint of cigars, great balance, fresh acidity, great texture, ripe tannins, the texture makes them hard to notice somehow, starting to evolve, perfect now and in the next 10 years. Very elegant, and at least in this vintage, nothing like a Parker monster as one could expect, a bit short finish if I'm picky. 93

SEP 20 Ruby core, brick rim. Leaner nose, spices, earthy, truffles, mature nose, dried fruits. Fresh acidity, not that many tannins left, leaner bodied, dried fruits, tobacco, leaner finish. 88

 

1986 Le Pin

OCT 19 Ruby, brick rim. Dried fruits, liquorice, some herbs, leaner, bit rustic nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, still some texture to it, dried fruits, leaner finish, long if narrow, firmer, not the sexiest Pomerol I have had. 91

 

1985 Le Pin

MAR 22 Ruby, thin brick rim. Scented, red and dark fruits, figs, liquorice, minerals, some earthy notes, elegant nose. The most seductive nose on a mature Le Pin to date, except for that stunning 1989. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, blackberries, dates, figs, nuanced, really charming, layered, long finish. 94

NOV 15 Ruby, broad brick rim. Dates, exotic spices, iron minerals, rose hips, figs and dates nose, chocolate. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, dates, figs, smooth texture, lighter body, long finish. 93
