2023 Pomerol
Pomerol have some absolute beauties this vintage. In fact, my two wines of the vintage are both from Pomerol. I personally like that Gazin and L’Evangile is a bit lighter than their usual style, and L’Evangile is amongst their finest to date for me. I have never found so much complexity and finesse in it at such a young state.
Beauregard has probably made one of their finest to date, as have Petit-Village, both showing lots of detailes and finesse, and Beauregard has a more subtle texture to it than before. Both are entering and maintain a new level the last few vintages. Well, Petit Village for almost a decade now.
From JP Moueix it is normally Trotanoy that steals the show, and it is fine indeed again this year, but it is La Fleur-Petrus that is really shining. What a beauty! And the best La Grave I have ever tasted.
Clinet shows off spectacularly in a more exoticly spicy manner, with vibrant, succulent dark fruits, also a star of the vintage.
Château La Conseillante shows depth, exotic spices and a texture from the heavens, such a seductive wine. Spellbinding!
L’Eglise-Clinet shows wonderful depth and nuance.
Le Gay shows the greatest finesse I have ever encountered from the estate, unfortunately I did not get to taste La Violette, but Le Gay was showing brilliantly, and the greatest expression I can remember from here. Mouthwatering and thrillingly fragrant.
Lafleur with more power, yet retains finesse, superb texture, another beauty.
Vieux Château Certan has depth and layeres of velvet before a beautiful mineral and saline note that is thrilling.
Le Pin shows such floral high notes and scent that I have hardly encountered during primeur, and the texture follows up. Silky and nuanced. Gorgeous. One of the two wines of the vintage for me.
And Petrus, depth yet transparent, silky yet textured with gorgeously fine-grained tannins, a wonder to behold. The other wine of the vintage to me.

Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, detailed, intense, spices, liquorice, nuanced, layered, deep, stunning balance, rich yet lifted, incredible texture, long finish. Stunning. Highly seductive. One of the highest tannin concentration ever on Petrus, some 30% higher than on the 2022, yet impeccably smooth and velvety, very fine grained. Wine of the vintage for me together with Le Pin. 99-100
